Sharing a single set of speakers between several computers is not easy, especially if the computers are far from each other and if you have to move a 2.1 system. Acoustic Bridge can spare you from this chore. It can redirect any sounds on your computer to a remote computer's speakers. This makes it possible to play music on one computer and hear it on any other machine on your local network.

The application is free to try for 30 days, without any functionality restrictions. It can be installed in a matter of seconds and the best part is that you don't have to make any network-related configurations. Acoustic Bridge works on Windows Vista and all later editions, it doesn't have any special requirements and it doesn't ask for too many resources.

If you wish to redirect an audio signal from one computer to another, you must install and run the application on both machines. Acoustic Bridge provides a compact user interface, which displays clear options for sending and receiving sounds. To send an audio signal, all you have to do is type the target machine's name and its corresponding code, which is generated automatically.

Once you specify a name and a code, you will hear everything, from music to system sounds, on the destination computer's speakers. To receive sounds, you only need to select the appropriate option on the user interface and let other users type your computer's name and code on their end. You can change your own pass code at any time, if you wish to make it easier to remember.

A series of configurations can be made on a separate window. The application can be set to receive sounds only from computers on the same subnet. Additionally, you can set up a different communications port and use lossless compression when sending sounds on more than two channels. The lossless compression may cause a slight delay, but you can prevent it by decreasing the application's buffer, on the same configurations panel.

Pros

You can play sounds on one computer and hear them on another machine, without making any advanced configurations. The application allows you to make a few adjustments, like increasing or decreasing a buffer, using a lossless compression and others.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to speak of. Instead of moving your speakers from one computer to another, you can use Acoustic Bridge to make the speakers available for all computers on your network.
